Two Days For The Price Of One!

I plain old ran out of time yesterday to post pictures of our lunches, so today it's two for one!

Today the kids got ham on dinner rolls, cheese, pepperoni slices, mini chocolate chip cookies with Ritz Bits hiding underneath, grapes & red peppers, or celery & Teddy Grahams.

Hubby got the sandwich he requested -- ham & moszzarella with mustard and pickles on the side (underneath in a Ziploc bag), carrots & celery with ranch, a clementine and two chocolate cookie-type things.

Yesterday was ham on bread, pretzels, homemade brownies, Shreddies and Orea Thinsations for one kid ....

... And carrots, grapes, a clementine, and rice cakes in addition to the sandwiches and brownies for the other kid.

Today's Tuesday ... But Shopping Day Is Coming!

It's incredibly obvious today just how badly I need to go grocery shopping. But it'll have to wait til tomorrow. Lunches today are pretty much whatever we had left in the cupboard and fridge.

Daddy has tomato soup, two kinds of crackers, homemade cookies and a clementine. I'm betting he'll come home hungry ...

The kids have waffles with syrup in the little pigs, cookies, a hotdog cut into an octopus and a crab with ketchup, and carrots. There are also Bugles, grapes and a clementine for one kid, and celery, crackers & cream cheese, and Shreddies for the other.

Now to figure out what they'll be eating tomorrow ... before I go shopping.

Back To The Daily Grind

Well, Christmas is over for another year, the kids are heading back to school, and hubby is heading back to work. A quiet house is a beautiful thing!

It's hot dog day for the kids, so no sandwiches today. Instead they've got leftover chicken strips with ketchup, cheese & crackers, homemade chocolate mousse with sprinkles, Cheesies, and carrots & grapes, or celery.

Daddy has a turkey sandwich, cheese & crackers, carrots & celery with ranch dip, and a clementine.

Getting back into the routine went without a hitch this morning. I wonder if the kids were secretly anxious to get back to normal today too ...

Christmas is Coming!

Wow, Christmas is getting closer! I'm not sure I'm mentally prepared, but am I really ever? Only 3 more days of lunches til the holidays (Yay!).

The kids have a snack day today, so they don't need too much in their lunches again. They've got ham sandwiches, cheese, Ritz Chips, and granola bars. Kid #1 has the yogurt and grapes that he didn't eat yesterday, as well as some red peppers. Kid #2 has some Thin Sensations Chips Ahoy, some Ritz Bits S'mores, and a Chocolate Rice Krispie Square. Yeah, I think he's got enough goodies for one day!

Monday Morning -- Does it ever get easier?

It's another Monday morning ... why are they always so difficult? And now that I've made lunches, I've just discovered that it's freezing rain outside. Well, if the buses are cancelled, at least I don't have to worry about making something for my house-bound kids!

The kids have some of these cute little mini burgers we discovered at Costco. They've got some ketchup to put on them, some Top Dogs, a cheese string, Crispers, a chocolatety caramel Rice Krispie Square, and a granola bar. Kid 1 has grapes and yogurt to round out his meal, and Kid 2 has pretzels and crackers to (not-so-much) round out his meal.

The man of the house gets to use up some left-over turkey from last night with a couple of wraps. I've given him a bottle of Ranch for the wraps, a granola bar, a clementine, some cheese and crackers, and of course, some Crispers. Here's to yummy and safe Monday morning (in spite of the freezing rain!).

Back In Action !

It's been two months (yikes!) but we're back at it. Not the bento-ing (that's been continuing without interruption), but the photographing of said bento-ing.

Today is Pizza Day, so I was able to give the kids a little less than usual, and make use of these new 1L containers from Lock & Lock. They do have 3 divider cups, but I've removed one to make room for those Pogo Sticks.

Kid #1 has square-cut ham sandwiches, celery sticks, 2 Pogo Sticks (cut in half with sticks removed), a cheese string with a bottle of ketchup hiding underneath, animal crackers, half a granola bar, Ritz Bits S'Mores and a mixture of pretzels, Honeycombs and chocolate chips.

Kid #2 has basically the same thing, except for red peppers and grapes instead of the celery and ham sandwiches.
Dad has leftovers today -- tortellini and meatballs, as well as carrots and broccoli with some ranch dip hiding underneath, right beside the clementine, which is also hiding underneath.

Now, if I can just keep on track for this month!

Carbs, Anyone?

Well, all I can say is -- I promise to get more fresh produce tomorrow. Honest. The fact that everything in the kids' lunches is the same colour is pretty telling. Except for the grapes. At least they're somewhat nutritious.

Today the kids have Teddy Grahams, Ritz Bits, breadsticks, mini chocolate chip cookies, yougurt and grapes, with water to drink. Top it all off with a ham sandwich and the carbohydrate value of these lunches is pretty high. Oh well. It's all about how they eat over the week anyway, right?
